STYLISTA SHOPPING TOURS  PRESENTS NYC WARDROBE AUDIT!

  • Determine exactly what clothes you have
  • Decide together what stays and what goes
  • Make outfits of what clothes remain
  • Create a shopping list to fill in the gaps of the items that are missing to further build a productive wardrobe
  • You don’t usually have to throw everything away and begin again. The goal is to work with have you have and enhance or reinvent your style!

Your closet should be organized, this is not a closet make-over. However here are a few tips to get closet in order before your “WARDROBE AUDIT”.

  • Satin padding hangers for more delicate items and sturdy wood hangers for tailored jackets.
  • Gain extra space in all closets by using slim hangers, www.onlyslimlinehangers.com has great slim hangers
  • Slim plastic shoe boxes stack compactly or use a metal shoe rack that affixes to the wall (good way to get shoes off the closet floor).
  • Use large canvas boxes to store away neatly folded sweaters, while hanging canvas shelves offer an inexpensive alternative to built-ins.
  • Feel free to use a label maker for the ultimate closet organization.
  • Durable hooks keep large handbags from slumping and losing shape on shelves. Handbag holders are great for this (see handbag holder at:  http://www.stylistashoppingtours.com/4-shopping-days-left/)

Some great stores for closet organizers are:

www.containerstore.com, www.organize.com,www.bedbathandbeyond.com

Here is what the “WARDROBE AUDIT” Session consists of:

  • Establish style goal (what you want your style to be, or your wardrobe to say about you)
  • Critically look at each item (trying on when needed). Is it still in style? Does it fit? Is it in good condition?
  • Divide the clothing in three piles: keeping, donating, and tossing.
  • Organize the “keeping” pile and make full outfits (out of that pile)
  • A shopping list to fill in the gaps of the items that are missing from your wardrobe (ie. shoes, accessories, undergarments, etc. ).  We are available to do your shopping at an additional cost.

The goal is to own a “Worry Free” Wardrobe!

The session is 2.5 hours for $100 ($35 each additional hour)

Nordstrom Rack Finally Debuts in The Big Apple!

Eliza's Hot Pickson May 13th, 20101 Comment

Nordstrom
OMG! So today I set out to check out the new Nordstrom Rack store in Union Square!  Yes! Nordstrom! here!…in Manhattan!  where 20,000 Nordstrom credit card holders live! And yet just now in 2010 we welcome the first Nordstrom store to New York City! Well it’s actually Nordstrom Rack, but that’s even better! Nordstrom Rack offers 50-60% off original Nordstrom prices. They have a huge selection of designer shoes, accessories, and apparel. They carry petite and plus sizes, offer in-house tailoring and alterations, and best of all new merchandise arrives daily! Let me tell you they are like the new and improved Century 21. That’s probably because NR is only a 2 days old, lol. The staff is friendly, they genuinely smile and  greet you, plus they have a great system for the dressing room (which had a long line). They have a nice selection of just about everything!  They had gorgeous Ferragamo and Bruno Magli shoes for women,  nice handbags, ohhhhhhhhhh and I got some great designer shades at a lovely little price. I purchased a beeeeeeeeautiful Givenchy bracelet, two amazing dresses, and two pair of summer shoes fit for a stylista. I must admit I got excited, because they really had some nice stuff and it was easy to find! It’s always fun to get great deals on great stuff! So ladies the official scoop; run don’t walk, strategize the time you go, and travel light. If by any chance you have to go but can’t make it, call me. I will get the job done!

Jelly Beans & Diamonds!

Eliza's Hot Pickson April 26th, 2010No Comments

I remember being 10 or 11 years old and getting a pair of jelly sandals. It seemed as if all New York City girls were wearing them. They were my favorite summer shoes at the time. I loved the clear ones especially when they were new. I loved to look at them on my feet, until they got dirty…lol

Jellies have made they’re way back into the market and now major designers like Chanel have their own version! Here are a few in a variety of price ranges.

Sasha In The City!

Outside of Bryant Park I randomly stopped this stylista on the street! Sasha shared with me that the great t-shirt she was wearing, she purchased in Las Vegas.  She bought it from a shop that launched a line of shirts that were hand-painted by children to raise money for their charity! Way to go Sasha, you rock!

“The Zap” by Jimmy Choo

Eliza's Hot Pickson March 25th, 2010No Comments

Jimmy Choo is zapping stylistas pockets with his new shoe for Spring 2010 dubbed “The Zap”. The sexy $2,500 strappy shoe lights up when you walk. Yes two thousand and five hundred dollars…for a shoe….in this economy…which evidently doesn’t affect everyone….things are looking up already! The disco shoe is suppose to make the diva wearing them look like she has a hot light show going on with her high fashion footwear. I can see Samantha Jones, Lady Ga Ga, and Lil Kim easily wearing them. But what working woman will spend that kind of money on one pair of shoes, and what does she do for a living? In any event Jimmy Choo stores in Manhattan are completely out of stock. Now that’s genius!

How To Get Ready For Summer!

Eliza's Hot Pickson March 23rd, 2010No Comments

Okay ladies summer will be here before we know it, and I know exactly what your thinking. What? Already? For the love of God my body is not even bathing suit ready! We all have birthday’s, baby showers, weddings, and Bat Mitzvah’s to attend, among other events this season. For those of you who have been working hard and shedding the pounds congratulations! For those who are just beginning your pound flushing process or just didn’t bother, there is one thing most of us can agree on. We can’t suck everything in. Perhaps the best way to start the season off right is by investing $100 in ourselves before all the gift buying, and have it be our best money spent for summer 2010. We want our clothes to look and fit right. We also want the best quality, and lightest possible undergarments. So here is a quick tip or reminder of two items you do NOT want to be missing in this summer’s wardrobe. The SPANX Hide & Seek Adjustable Cami ($45). The SPANX Hide & Sleek Hi-Rise Panty Thong around $40. Yes I know, you say, but there is still one thing missing. What about my husband? I knew you were going to be concerned about that. Not to worry SPANX makes a masculine looking slimming T-shirt for men too. There are always a few tricks that can cleverly hide or enhance what were working with people. If one thing is going to get you off to a good start this summer, I promise it will be this. You can thank me later.

SPRING IN THE CITY…

Style in the Cityon March 22nd, 2010No Comments

New York City streets exploded with people on the first day of  Spring 2010!  Central Park seemed to be the center of it all. I was passing through the park from the East side to the West to visit the Shops @ Columbus Circle. So many people, tons of sun, and absolute explosive New York energy. I encountered these two cutie pies…Tiffany & Sandra. Tiffany recently moved to the City from Los Angeles, and she was showing it off to her dear friend Sandra who was visiting. Their style seemed an appropriate homage to Spring in the city!

Atelier Minyon comes to Soho!

Eliza's Hot Pickson March 16th, 2010No Comments

If you’ve never heard of or seen the finest handmade Turkish jewelry on the planet, consider yourself in on one  fine find. Atelier Minyon Jewel house has been making  custom made pieces for dignitaries and others across the globe since the 1970’s. The Artisans can now be found at their flagship store in Soho, housing  the most fascinating collections. I visited their shop before taking a private shopping tour there. It was overwhelming to say the least, beautifully designed shop and a lovely array of handmade pieces that you just can’t get off your mind when you leave there. And trying on any one of their breath taking pieces is a very different experience than looking at one.  They magically come to life. Look at a few of my faves, visit them for yourself and you tell me! www.atelierminyon.com

A New York Valentine’s Day!

Eliza's Hot Pickson February 10th, 2010No Comments

It`s not too late to plan a spectacular, romantic surprise for your loved one on Valentine`s day. What could be more exciting and romantic than a last minute trip to New York City? On-line sites such as lastminute.com and LateRooms.com are offering great last minute deals on New York City breaks offering everything her heart could desire. Top of her to-do list would surely be a tour of the shops, taking in iconic stores such as Bergdorf  Goodman or  Century 21, or arrange a customized shopping tour with Stylista Shopping Tours, guided by a native New-Yorker and tailored to suit her personal tastes.

If sightseeing is her thing, it won`t even cost a cent to board the Staten Island Ferry and cruise through New York Harbor past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Governors Island, with a fabulous view of the skyscrapers of Manhattan across the waters of the Hudson. Staten Island itself boasts a wealth of historical and cultural attractions including the largest collection of Tibetan art outside Tibet. The collection is housed in a Himalayan-style monastery building hanging from the side of a cliff!

Other must-see sights, with that all-important whiff of romance, are Central Park from the back of a horse-drawn carriage and the sun going down over the city from the top of the Empire State Building, followed by a darkness pierced by the myriad lights of the city that never sleeps breathtaking. After sunset treat her to a show on Broadway or perhaps something more high-brow at Carnegie Hall or the New York Philharmonic Symphony. New York really does have the best of everything on offer.

Been there, done that? It would take a lifetime to explore all that the city has to offer but seasoned travelers to New York looking for new ideas for a romantic getaway might consider “http://www.carhiredirect.co.uk/travelguides/cheap-car-hire-new-york-from-car-hire-direct.html”>car hire in New York</a> as a way to journey further afield and visit one of the popular holiday destinations of New York State, such as Long Island and the Hamptons. Or, for a real blow-out, romantic odyssey, how about a day trip from New York by air to Niagara Falls (about an hour`s flight)? The “Maid of the Mist” boat trip to the base of the falls is not available in the cooler months from October to May but the “Journey behind the Falls” is available instead. The awesome, thunderous power of the mighty falls is a never-to-be forgotten, elemental experience. Happy Valentine’s Day!

MariLu Creations…

So I receive this beautiful handmade headband for my birthday. I’m not particularly a headband wearing individual but this was perfectly picked by an amazing stylist, and it really works on me! I  inquired where he picked it up, he said a friend of his makes them. I was then invited to the desingers launch party to view the collection.

The designer Maria Escobar who worked for a fortune 500 company for over a decade decided to re-invent herself during this current economic climate. Her daughter who is a student in the arts is her partner. Together with combined  inspiration they hand-make each piece of they’re intimate collection. They specialize in head-wear, accessories and are developing a belt line. The best part is the price point, anyone can afford a handmade piece by Marilu Creations! www.marilucreations.com
