Fashion’s Night Out!
The excitement is building as New Yorkers get ready for Fashion’s Night Out! The first evening of New York Fashion Week will launch a global initiative to promote retail and celebrate fashion. Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and hundreds of retailers have designed this event to get consumers back into the stores. “Fashion’s Night Out” begins September 10, the first night of New York City’s Fashion Week.
Stores in the five boroughs will be open until 11 p.m. and to sweeten the deal some of the top fashion industry insiders will be on hand to offer advice on what to wear this fall, as well as elaborate on trends for 2010! If that weren’t exciting enough some designers will be at their own shops signing autographs, such as Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera and Tommy Hilfiger. At Barney’s you will find sexy Salsa lessons from Juan Carlos Obando’s…and Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen will be bartending. A full on block party & fashion show will take place in the village on Bleecker Street, or how about a photoshoot @ Dior 57th street by a “leading photographer.” Your photo will even be sent to you as a “memorable keepsake.” Dior also promises a “secret celebrity appearance,”. Ralph Lauren stores will offer sweet treats, Giorgio Armani Madison will have Rosie O’ Donnell reading “Love, Loss and What I Wore” by Nora Ephron, and expect to see a DJ @ Versace with a cast of pop tarts, like Ciara, Taylor Momsen, and model Chanel Iman. Even the high-queen of haute couture Ana Wintour will be at the Macy’s in Queens!
