Couture Hats…Now You Know…
….So I’m running around in the city on a Tuesday afternoon, I bump into two childhood friends and were catching up on life on the downtown 4 train. As were chatting on this crowded subway car, I’m easily distracted by this adorable brightly colored hat. I liked how it stood out and complimented this stylista’s gorgeous face. It almost showcased her personality. Darn, next stop is mine, I snap a photo as I’m still engaged in a full on conversation.
My friends admired the piece as well. As I kiss my buddies goodbye and gently push my way through the crowd to get off, a man standing by the door says “she makes the hat herself “, “she does” I exclaim…”what’s her name”? He quickly asks her for a card, she was oblivious to what was going on hands him the card, the door is quickly closing…wow now I’ll never know….”here” he hands it to me and OMG!! I run back grab the card the door closed. Got it!!!! Her name is Alicia Carr and she owns a company called Tattered Gossamer Millinery…she makes one of a kind couture hats by hand in her East village studio! Another cute NYC moment!
